Biography

Hello Scouts!!!!!!  It is an honor to have been invited to this year's annual Merit Badge University to speak about Family Life.  A little bit of information about me:

I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Finance.  I currently work for HomElectrical, which is an e-commerce business that strictly sells online.  My daily tasks at my job are to monitor all my employees, make sure my customers are taken care of, and lastly, accounting, which is my most important role.  To ensure that monthly reports are done for the CEO of the company, I record all income and expenses the company has.

I have a huge responsibility in this company because my brother is the owner.  Because he is only available 2 days out of the week, he depends me to report to him daily.  I am his eyes, ears, and touch of his company.

Why I am qualified to teach
Family Life*
I share this information with you because of the role I have accepted as your counselor.  I have been asked to instruct eager minds like you about Family Life.  This is a great example of the strong bond my brother and I have.  Our family is very connected and our bond is very strong.  I would like to share with all of you my experience I have had in my life with all the wonderful memories with my family, and we can share the "not so great" memories, as well.

As all of you know, there are many different types of families in the world.  My family includes a mother, father, brother, sister,  and 2 dogs.  We rely on one another a lot and love each other very much.
Prerequisites for this Activity

Please make sure you have this list I have below checked off prior to our meeting:

  • Please make sure you read the Family Life Book.  It may be provided by your troop or you can collect one from the BSA building.  If you are in Atlanta, GA, there is location around Cumberland Mall.

  • I would like for everyone to complete requirements 1-6.

  • For requirement 3, please be able to provide me a full 90 days by the time we meet.  Remember there needs to be at least 5 different chores you do around the house.

  • Requirement 7,  I would like  for you to think about it and when we meet, we will talk about it.

  • With requirement 4-5, these are projects that you'll have to plan out on your own.  Upon completion of the project, make sure to have a brief summary about it.  Here are some things to think about when writing up the summary: (1) How did this project benefited you and your family? (2) What was the objective/goal of the project? (3) How many people/family members assisted you on the family project? (For requirement 5 only) (4) And what was the outcome of your project(s)?

  • Requirement 6, if you can carry a nice meeting with your family, you an discuss what you would like to talk about with a member of your troop, and plan the meeting.  Once you have completed the meeting, we can talk about it in class.

  • Requirement 7, since our class is on the larger side, I will try to have a one on one conversation about this subject.  If not, we can have a full class discussion and you can ask me any questions you have.  Create a list of questions if you need.

To be able to create a strong family, you need to show everyone in your family that you are dependable and trustworthy.  These are just some traits that you will read more about in your Family Life book.  On the day we meet, please bring a photo of everyone in your family that lives with you and we can share with the class.  This will show everyone all the different types of families that exist in the world.  I look forward and am extremely excited to meet each and every one of you.
